A piece of land, totaling 1,200 square kilometers, in the north of Yangtz River and east of Jialing River newly named the Liangjiang New Area became the third national development and opening-up zone in China- and the first in the inland-approved by the State Council, after Shanghai Pudong New Area and Tianjin Binhai New Area on June 18, 2010.
From that moment on, China's west region began to embrace and blend into the world.
