100 million people

Urbanization is the sure route to modernization and an important basis for integrating the urban and rural structures, Li said in his first government work report.

China will grant urban residency to around 100 million rural people who have moved to cities, rebuild rundown city areas and villages inside cities where around 100 million people live, and guide the urbanization of around 100 million rural residents of the central and western regions in cities there, says the report. 10 million urban jobs

Premier Li said in his government report that China aims to create 10 million more urban jobs to ensure the registered urban unemployment rate does not rise above 4.6 percent.

7 million housing units

China will begin to build more than 7 million units of government-subsidized housing, 4.7 million of which will be in rundown urban areas, said Premier Li in his government report. By the end of this year, 4.8 million units should be completed.
