Romantic couple stage unconventional breakup

Xu Minyu, a graduate from Wuhan University of Science and Technology in Central China's Hubei province, threw a "breakup ceremony" upon graduation to commemorate his four-year-long relationship with his girlfriend Xiao Ying on Thursday night, the Wuhan Evening News reported.

Surrounded by heart-shaped candles and holding a bouquet of flowers, Xu knelt down in front of his girlfriend.

People on campus who were watching the scene shouted: "Say yes, say yes."

Silent for two minutes, Xiao eventually accepted Xu's flowers and the breakup.

The report said both of them graduated this summer and?Xu will be a civil servant in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province,?while Xiao Ying has signed a contract with a Beijing-based company, so the couple made the decision to break up.

Xiao used to tell Xu how much she liked the idea of such a scene for a romantic proposal, so he decided to make their breakup just as memorable, the report said.
