US urged to respect Chinese sovereignty over Diaoyu Islands

HANOI - The US should respect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity over the Diaoyu Islands, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said on the sidelines of the fifth East Asia Summit when he met with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday.
Yang reaffirmed China's position on the sensitive issue and urged the US to act correctly.
The two sides also acknowledged development in the China-US bilateral ties and said they will continue their high level exchanges and cooperation.
Chinese President Hu Jintao will pay a state visit to the US early next year and will meet with US President Barack Obama during the G20 Summit in Seoul next month.
