Yuejiang Lou Tower （閱江樓）
Built in 2001 to replicate ancient Ming Dynasty-style architecture, this huge complex overlooks the Yangtze River. The design of the building is based on a poem written by Zhu Yuanzhang, describing his plans to build a tower here where he could view the river. Other imperial business got in the way and for several centuries his design remained only on paper.

Qinhuai River （秦淮河）
The largest river in Nanjing serves as the life blood of the city. It includes many famous sites along its banks, including Confucius Temple, Zhanyuan Garden, Zhonghua Gate and sights along the Taoye ferry ride to Zhenhuai Bridge.
The Confucius Temple （夫子廟）
Originally constructed in 1034 during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) as a place to worship the great philosopher and educator Confucius. Known as Fuzimiao in Chinese, the temple suffered repeated damage and has been rebuilt several times over the years. It was burnt to ruins by the Japanese in 1937 then rebuilt with the support of the local government in 1984.
