Xiaoyaowan: Dalian's future growth area

Xiaoyaowan, a planned central business district in Dalian, is expected to become a new economic growth engine in the Liaoning coastal economic zone because of its advantages in policies, industries, ecology, transportation and culture.

The area, located in the northern part of Dalian, will enjoy a series of preferential policies for foreign investment after the central government approved the Liaoning's program of the coastal economic development in July this year, the local government said.

The strategy will help develop the Liaoning coastal economic zone into one of the important contributors for economic growth in the country.

Further investment in the Xiaoyaowan area will also help Dalian, in the heart of the coastal economic zone, better increase its competitiveness in the Northeast Asia economic ring, the local government said.

Development of an emerging economy and a new industrial structure will be prioritized in the Xiaoyaowan area given its industrial advantage, the local government said.

The area enjoys advantages in human resources, logistics and technology since it neighbors the Dayaowan port zone, the Dayaowan bonded zone and a biological medicine park.

A number of hi-tech companies such as Intel have made investments in the Xiaoyaowan area, helping increase its competitiveness in the global hi-tech industry.

The Xiaoyaowan area also has a good ecological environment since it is situated between the Daheishan Mountains and the Yellow Sea coast, and between the Dayao Bay and Jinshitan Beach. The air and water qualities are among the best in Dalian.

This enables Xiaoyaowan to develop a sound ecological system to support its industrial development.

Abundant relics and historic sites in the Daheishan Mountains and the beautiful landscape in the Yellow Sea coast also help increase Xiaoyaowan's attractiveness as a tourism destination.

In addition, the Xiaoyaowan area has a very efficient and convenient transport network consisting of expressways and railways that helps it develop a sound logistics system.

And several light rail systems are also planned to link the area to the Dayaowan Port, the old urban area and the new Dalian airport.
