Li Wuwei is elected vice-chairman of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the fourth plenary meeting of the First Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee in Beijing, capital of China, March 13, 2008. [Xinhua]

The following is a biographical sketch of Li Wuwei, who was just elected vice-chairman of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC):

Li Wuwei

Male, born in November 1942, of Han nationality, native of Dongyang, Zhejiang Province.

Started to work in September 1966.

Cadre on probation at a coalmine's preparatory office in Suxian County, Anhui Province in 1959-1960.

Substitute teacher at Haining Road No. 2 Primary School and Wujin Road No. 2 Primary School in Shanghai in 1960-1961.

Ran continuation classes at home in 1961-1964.

Substitute teacher at Nanhu Middle School in Shanghai in 1964-1965.

Part-time worker at a housing management office and a paper mill in Shanghai in 1965-1966.

Part-time worker at a plastic factory in Shanghai in 1966-1971.

Part-time worker at Shanghai No.7 automobile fittings factory, teacher of the factory school and member of the factory's technical team in 1971-1979.

Graduate student in the major of industrial economics at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) in 1979-1982.

Researcher with the industrial economics division under SASS's sector economics institute, deputy director and director of the quantitative economics and statistics theory division under the institute, and assistant to the institute director in 1982-1988.

Vice chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) and deputy director of SASS's sector economics institute in 1988-1996.(Visiting scholar in Saint Louis University in Missouri, the United States in 1988-1989.)

Vice chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, chairman of the RCCK Shanghai Municipal Committee, deputy director and director of SASS's sector economics institute in 1996-1997.
