Jan 20—30, 1924: Chinese Kuomintang holds its first National Congress in Guangzhou

The Congress adopted a declaration drafted by Communists with the main content of fighting against imperialism and feudalism, determining the three policies of alliance with Russia, alliance with Communist, and assist peasants and workers, developing the old Three People's Principles into the new Three People's Principles. The congress elected 10 Party members and alternate members of KMT Central Executive Committee include Li Dazhao, Tan Pingshan, Mao Zedong, Lin Boqu, Qu Qiubai, etc. Then the congress reorganized the Kuomintang headquarters with Communists as the ministers of KMT Central Committee Organization Department, Peasant Department, and Worker Department. Subsequently, most of the country with Communists and KMT leftists as the backbone restructured and established KMT headquarters at all levels. Therefore, Kuomintang with the nature of bourgeoisie has become into a democratic revolution union consisted of workers, peasants, urban petty bourgeoisie and bourgeois.

Jan 20, 1941: Rebuild the New Fourth Army

On Jan 20, 1941, the Central Revolutionary Military Commission issued an order to rebuild the New Fourth Army and named Chen Yi as acting commander, Zhang Yunyi as deputy commander, Liu Shaoqi as political commissar, Lai Chuanzhu as chief of staff, Deng Zihui as director of Political Department. On Jan 25, the New Fourth Army was established in Yancheng of Northern Jiangsu, and immediately reorganized forces according to the instructions of the CPC Central Committee, expanding the army to seven divisions and an independent brigade. The army totaled 90,000 people, continuing to fight in the north and south of the Yangtze River.
