Liu Xiaoqing, who was born in 1955, was one of the leading actresses in China in the 1980s and later became a successful businesswoman in the 1990s. She became one of the richest people in China, appearing at 45 on Forbes' list of the 50 richest Chinese businessmen and businesswomen in 1999. But she was also a controversial figure as she was arrested for tax evasion in connection with her company in 2002 and was imprisoned for a year. Liu returned to acting in the mid-2000s and the "Fenghua Juedai" is her latest stage drama, which tells the life story of famous courtesan Sai Jinhua, a legendary but very controversial figure in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).[Photo/Xinhua]
