Skoda Rapid
The model, produced at Sino-German joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen, just hit the market on the eve of the Auto Shanghai. It is smaller than the Skoda Octavia compact but larger than the Fabia subcompact. It is the fourth Skoda model made in China, following the Octavia, Fabia and the Superb mid-sized sedan.
The Rapid has two engine options - 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter four-cylinder Volkswagen EA211. It also has two gearbox options - five-speed manual and six-speed automatic. The 1.4-liter version generates maximum power of 66 kw/5500 rpm and offers peak torque of 132 Nm/3800 rpm. The 1.6-liter version's maximum power is 81 kW/5800 rpm and top toque is 155 Nm/3800 rpm. The 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter versions have a fuel economy of 4.6 and 4.7 liters per 100 km, respectively.
The Rapid is 4501mm long, 1706mm wide and 1469mm high. Its wheelbase is 2603mm.
