BEIJING -- Chinese shares rose moderately on the first trading day in September on Monday, with the Shenzhen Component Index up 0.5 percent, or 41.1 points, to finish at 8,243.58.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed flat at 2,098.45.
