A job with a room to review

Mai Tian (an alias), is a 24-old-year girl from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province with an unusual job for which she is extremely grateful.

She visits hotels and gets paid for it. Mai was chosen by Qunar.com, a popular travel website, to review hotels when she came to study as a postgraduate at the Shanghai East China University of Political Science and Law in 2011.

She has visited more than 40 hotels over the past two years and written more than 50 reviews.

"I try to give tourists a clear idea of the hotels they want to stay in."

The website now has about 1,500 hotel reviewers and they are required to review more than 10,000 hotels every year, said Qian Zhen, Communications and Investor Relations Head of Qunar.com.

"They have played a key role in making the website a success.

"We want to increase the number of our hotel reviewers from 1,500 to 2,000 within two years to meet market demand," said Qian.

A reviewer can come from any walk of life just as hotel guests can come from any walk of life.

"Nobody knows who they are, but they are everywhere," Mai said.

Qunar.com will soon launch a campaign to choose the top hotels and hostels for families, Qian said.

As the economy develops, hotels are becoming increasingly popular. Knowing what services hotels offer can help potential customers take the guesswork out of selection.
