Life on a bus-converted RV

A 23-year-old young man in Zhejiang province has built himself and his girlfriend a home out of a worn out minibus in order to save rent. Their bus-converted home, dubbed a “RV” by media, has attracted a lot of attention.

The young man surnamed Zhang, together with his girlfriend Zhao, arrived in Songmen county, Wenling city of Zhejiang province several months ago to look for jobs. After failing to find an affordable accommodation to rent, Zhang accidentally stumbled upon an old minibus and came up with the idea to convert it into a "house".

He paid over 5,000 yuan ($784) for the minibus and spent hundreds of yuan in necessities and modifying the minibus.

The RV-like minibus now has a bed, TV, electric lights and fan inside, making it looks like a real home. The couple also uses a container beside the minibus as kitchen and shower room.

Zhang said the minibus will become extremely hot in the day because of strong sunshine, so he covered the roof with a large piece of cloth to shield the sun, they also face problems such as water supply and bad smell from the landfill about 20 meters away.

Despite the difficulties, the couple feels happy and satisfied since they have a warm home of their own.
