At the same time Audi has set a new benchmark in fuel consumption - a 12 percent drop to 12 liters per 100km - a figure far lower than rivals in its class.
The gearbox plays crucial role in delivering such high efficiency. The eight-speed tiptronic enables smooth, quick gear changes controlled by a paddle shift on the central console that requires only a gentle tap.
The A8L is equipped with the latest quattro full-time four-wheel-drive system - a design that stresses rear power to enhance driving pleasure.
The car's aluminum body is built on the Audi Space Frame (ASF) structure and weighs 40 percent less than a steel body.
The ASF structure has an integrated B column of hardened ultra-high-strength steel that provides extraordinary rigidity, which enables more accurate handling and safety performance to the entire car.
The Audi front early warning system monitors traffic conditions and provides support to the driver while an assist system at speeds above 65km/h can intervene to prevent unwanted lane changes.
The A8L also introduces the first night vision assistance system that can detect an object up to 300 m away.
The redesigned headlights of the car use an enhanced xenon light unit and the full LED daytime running lights, which are equipped with the Audi headlight scope continuous control system.
A camera mounted in front of the rearview mirror can identify approaching vehicles and fine tune the headlight scope for optimal lighting.
Multimedia
Audi has again led the way in innovation with its enhanced multimedia interaction (MMI) system using a touch screen.
The driver can operate the MMI system with a control mounted on the car's the shift lever and use the touch screen without distraction.
The A8L also has an outstanding acoustic system with up to 19 speakers and a rear entertainment system controlled by an MMI panel mounted between the rear seats.
