Index hits new high, 03/26(China Daily)Updated: 2007-03-27 09:05 China's main stock index rose 1.58 percent yesterday, hitting a fresh high. Blue-chip stocks led the gains in heavy trade. The Shanghai Composite Index rose for the sixth straight day and closed at 3,122.81 points. Turnover in Shanghai A shares was heavy at 10.98 billion yuan yesterday.
