On the eve of Spring Festival, Huang Xin embarked on an extraordinary journey, traveling nearly 5,000 kilometers from Bama in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to a remote radar station high in the Karakoram Mountains in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to reunite with her husband, Meng Mingtao, a sergeant in the air force of the People's Liberation Army's Western Theater Command.
Though they have been married for a year, Meng and Huang had yet to celebrate their wedding with a proper ceremony. Their love had largely been sustained through video calls, bridging the vast distance between them. "I love him, so I support him," Huang said. "No matter how far or difficult the journey, I wanted to see the place he loves."
