The Italians delivered on their promise to raise the curtain on the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in a uniquely memorable way.
For the first time in Olympic history, the Games' opening ceremony was held simultaneously at multiple locations with the iconic San Siro Stadium — famous for hosting two of the world's most renowned soccer clubs: AC Milan and its cross-town rival Inter — setting up a main stage for protocols and artistic performances, while Cortina d'Ampezzo, a co-host town in Italy's northern mountain region, also staged part of the show.
