Party leadership meeting reviews key work reports
A key Party meeting, presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Friday, underlined the importance of focusing on the major strategic objectives for economic and social development under the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) to get the new five-year plan off to a good start.
The meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee reviewed a comprehensive report of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on its hearing and discussion of work reports by the leading Party members groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, the State Council, China's cabinet, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, the Supreme People's Court, and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, as well as the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting fully affirmed the work of the five leading Party members groups and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee in 2025, and approved their work plans for 2026.
It was noted at the meeting that over the past year, the five leading Party members groups resolutely upheld the authority and the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee and played their roles well, making positive contributions to the successful completion of the main tasks and objectives laid out for the year and the successful conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
The Secretariat had thoroughly implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and had carried out extensive work to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee, according to the meeting.
Noting that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the meeting urged them to faithfully implement the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and follow up on the Party Central Committee's decisions and deployments for this year's work without compromise.
The five leading Party members groups should exercise full and rigorous Party self-governance and take the lead in having a correct attitude towards performance in work, according to the meeting.
The meeting also called on the Secretariat to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee with high quality.
