Wang: China, France should work together to inject stability into world

China and France should strengthen communication and coordination to inject stability into the world amid a turbulent international landscape, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during his phone conversation with Emmanuel Bonne, diplomatic adviser to the French president, on Wednesday.

At the start of the new year, the international situation has seen significant changes, with multiple uncertainties emerging, Wang said.

He reiterated that China and the European Union are partners, not adversaries, and emphasized that both sides share similar positions on issues such as promoting a multipolar world and are capable of resolving specific trade disputes through dialogue.

Against the current backdrop, Wang said China and Europe must strengthen dialogue, enhance mutual trust and deepen cooperation in particular.

He said recent visits to China by leaders of multiple European countries have given a strong boost to China-Europe relations, expressing hope that France will continue to play an active role within the EU and advance the sound and steady development of China-EU relations.

Bonne said that France attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperation with China and is ready to strengthen strategic communication on major international issues through both bilateral and multilateral platforms, and jointly address challenges.

He added that advancing stable EU-China relations fully aligns with the interests of both sides, and France is committed to supporting this effort.

The two sides also exchanged views and coordinated positions on pressing international issues, such as the Ukraine crisis, the situation in Venezuela, and the situation in Iran.
