Xi chairs CPC leadership meeting to hear work reports of state institutions

BEIJING -- The Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a full-day meeting on Jan 8. It heard work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC) and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), as well as a work report from the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

It was pointed out at the meeting that it is an important measure for the CPC leadership to hear work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the NPC Standing Committee, the State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the SPC and the SPP, and its own secretariat, and this is meant to uphold and improve the Party's leadership system and ensure that the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee is substantiated in all fields, aspects and links of national governance. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China is confronted with profound and intricate changes in its development environment, which will bring about challenging and arduous tasks. The Party's leadership, as China's greatest advantage, must be upheld, applied and further developed, providing a fundamental guarantee for advancing Chinese modernization.

It was noted at the meeting that over the past year, the leading Party members' groups of the NPC Standing Committee, the State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the SPC and the SPP followed the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, resolutely upheld the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership, and earnestly implemented the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and all plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Closely focusing on the overall plan of the Party and the state, they performed their duties and fulfilled their responsibilities, effectively strengthened their own development, and made new achievements in various aspects of their work.

It was stated at the meeting that over the past year, under the leadership of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and its Standing Committee, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee earnestly implemented the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, actively performed its duties and fulfilled its responsibilities, and did a great deal of work in areas such as completing tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee, strengthening the development of intra-Party regulations and institutions, guiding and promoting the work of mass organizations, and rectifying pointless formalities to relieve primary level governments of unnecessary workload.

It was stressed at the meeting that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and is the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. The leading Party members' groups of the NPC Standing Committee, the State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the SPC, and the SPP should follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and all plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and earnestly implement the arrangements of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. They must uphold the Party Central Committee's centralized, unified leadership, profoundly understand the decisive significance of the "Two Affirmations," strengthen the awareness of the "Four Consciousnesses" and "Four Confidences," resolutely act on the "Two Upholds," always closely follow the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core in thinking, political stance and action, and ensure that the CPC Central Committee's decisions and arrangements are fully and properly implemented. They must keep in mind the major strategic tasks for economic and social development in the 15th Five-Year Plan period, forge unity in will and synergy to advance work in all fields so as to get the new Five-Year Plan off to a good start. They must have a correct understanding of what it means to perform well, and perform their duties well for the people. They must further consolidate themselves, hold those in charge accountable for advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance, and effectively enhance the consciousness and resolve for self-reform.

It was emphasized at the meeting that in the new year, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee must thoroughly implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and all plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, earnestly carry out the arrangements of the Fourth Plenary Session. Following the requirements of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and its Standing Committee, it must do a good job in the key tasks within its own responsibilities, such as organizing and guiding study campaigns within the Party, improving building of Party regulations and institutions, promoting the development and reform of mass organizations, and continuously rectifying pointless formalities to relieve primary level governments of unnecessary workload. It must also do an excellent job in fulfilling all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.
