Yasukuni visit a nod to militarism

Eighty years after the end of World War II, a shadow from the past looms over Tokyo. Reports indicate Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi may visit the Yasukuni Shrine on December 26th. This isn't just about remembrance. It's a political act with dangerous consequences for Asia.

Why is Yasukuni so explosive? Because at its core, it's a symbol of unrepentant militarism.?Enshrined there were 14 Class-A war criminals, men like Hideki Tojo and Iwane Matsui, architects of the Pacific War and atrocities like the Nanjing Massacre.
