Chinese descendants on an African island

Today, Lamu Island in Kenya not only preserves precious blue-and-white porcelain from China but is also home to a unique community of "Chinese" descendants. Though bearing dark skin, these descendants have inherited brown pupils and distinct eastern facial features. With archaeological evidence, it is thought that Chinese admiral Zheng He's fleet 620 years ago stopped by the island during a voyage.
