Future energy to take center stage at Marintec China 2025

Marintec China 2025, the maritime industry's premier event in Asia, starts on Tuesday at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The Energytec future energy pavilion will make its debut at this year's event.

"This year's exhibition has reached new heights in terms of scale and international participation," said Xing Wenhua, head of the Shanghai society of naval architects and marine engineers, and chairman of the Chinese organizing committee for Marintec China.

The four-day maritime showcase spans over 110,000 square meters across 11 specialized pavilions, attracting more than 2,200 exhibiting companies from more than 40 countries and regions.

Foreign exhibitors account for 43 percent of this year's participants, while domestic participants have expanded by 20 percent compared to the previous edition, according to the organizers.

Xing said China's shipbuilding industry has demonstrated exceptional strength despite global caution in new vessel investments. Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology demonstrate China's commanding position in the first three quarters of 2025, securing 53.8, 67.3 and 65.2 percent respectively of global market share across three key deadweight tonnage indicators.

Norway, this year's Marintec Country of Honor, is sending a high-level delegation to Shanghai, led by representatives from its ministry of trade, industry and fisheries, according to Gong Kangkang, chairwoman of the international organizing committee and vice-president and managing director of Informa Markets Asia.

The domestic halls (W1-W7) will showcase industry leaders, including China State Shipbuilding Corporation, China COSCO Shipping Co Ltd and the China classification society. International halls (N1-N4) will host global powerhouses such as Siemens, Schneider Electric and Cummins.

Organizers say the Energytec future energy pavilion will be a highlight of this year's event, underscoring the maritime industry's commitment to achieving low carbon emissions. The pavilion will be complemented by forums and seminars exploring alternative energy solutions and supply chain sustainability.

Running concurrent with the exhibition, the senior maritime forums will facilitate high-level strategic discussions across multiple sectors.
