China's 'airport construction leader' creates new gateway for Cambodia

China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co Ltd (CCTEB), China's airport construction leader, has built more than 100 aviation hubs at home and abroad and is seeking to further expansion worldwide following the opening of its latest flagship project in Cambodia.

As a major component of the China State Construction Engineering Group, CCTEB counts among its strengths the intelligent development of its entire industrial chain.

In what is a major leap forward for Cambodia's aviation industry, the Techo International Airport — built by Cambodia Airport Investment Co Ltd in conjunction with CCTEB — was officially opened to traffic on Tuesday.

The new hub should ease operating pressure on Cambodia's airports, enhance its air transport capacity and play an important role in attracting international tourists. The airport will also help promote Cambodia's wider economic development.

Ambassadors and envoys from the Indian, French, Japanese, Canadian, British and Australian embassies in Cambodia have been impressed by the new airport when visiting it.

Construction on the airport - located around 19 kilometers from the center of the capital Phnom Penh – was completed on July 10 this year. The airport, spanning Kandal and Takeo provinces, covers an area of 2,600 hectares.

CCTEB was involved in the design and construction of the passenger terminal, north pier, energy center, viaduct in front of the station, outdoor road and landscape works for the airport.
