Local businesses, including Sunbaby Bakery, have acknowledged their dependence on community support. Yu said the community bakery has been closely linked to the neighborhood from the beginning.

The management of outdoor stalls on Daxue Road also involves collaboration, with guidelines developed through discussions with business operators, residents, government departments and a property developer.

Jiang Qiwen, a restaurant manager, noted that the height of stall dividers on the main road is standardized based on streetlight location to ensure uniformity.

Local official Pan Jiawei said the pedestrian street has hosted approximately 90 events, including art and lifestyle festivals, attracting more than 10 million visitors and 290 million yuan ($41 million) in sales over two years.

Zhang Hao, an official with the Shanghai Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau, said he hopes Shanghai can create a unique style of outdoor stalls that attracts tourists and provides a comfortable experience.
