Tianjin marks 40 years with Airbus

Components for Airbus A320 aircraft have arrived at Tianjin Port aboard the COSCO Shipping Sagittarius from Europe.

The delivery coincides with Airbus marking 40 years of cooperation with China's aviation industry and 30 years since the A320 single-aisle series entered the Chinese market.

Tianjin Port handles Airbus components around the clock in all weather conditions. It has maintained a "zero-defect" record for 17 consecutive years.

Li Wentao, deputy manager at TPCT's Operation Management Department, said the port team had developed a dedicated plan for receiving and unloading Airbus TCUs, achieving complete operational accuracy and cutting the unloading time per component by 12 percent.

"The automation rate of large loading and unloading equipment at the port's container terminals has exceeded 88 percent," said Zhang Jiang, deputy general manager of the Business Department at Tianjin Port Co.

"As the largest automobile import and export hub port in northern China, Tianjin Port currently has 148 container routes, which can reach more than 500 ports in 180 countries and regions around the world," Zhang added.

Tianjin Port is a key hub for the land-sea linkage for countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. It is connecting China with the global market and injecting energy into the global economy.
