Macron expresses readiness to enhance policy coordination with China

French President Emmanuel Macron met on Friday with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Paris, expressing the readiness to enhance policy coordination with China to prevent the world from descending into hegemonic conflicts or bloc confrontations.

Macron noted that global uncertainties and unpredictability are on the rise, and France looks forward to strengthening policy coordination with China in areas such as the international economy, finance, and global governance.

He emphasized the need to jointly address global challenges, inject vitality into multilateralism, and prevent the world from descending into hegemonic conflicts or bloc confrontations.

Marking the 50th anniversary of European Union-China diplomatic relations, Macron called for a strategic choice to position both sides as predictable and reliable friends and partners.

France highly values its relationship with China, welcomes increased Chinese investment, and seeks a more balanced economic and trade relationship, Macron said, adding that he expected to visit China at an appropriate time.

Wang said that China is willing to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, prepare for upcoming high-level exchanges, and deepen cooperation across various fields.

Calling China and France comprehensive strategic partners and two major forces for global stability, Wang said that the more turbulent the international situation, the more critical the strategic value of China-France relations becomes.

China is willing to enhance strategic communication and cooperation with France, jointly uphold multilateralism, oppose unilateral bullying, and resist bloc confrontations, thereby bringing greater certainty and predictability to a turbulent world, he added.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis, the Gaza situation, and the Iranian nuclear issue.
