UCASS focused on helping its grads land jobs

The Beijing-based University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is continuing to go all out to help its students land jobs. It cooperates with companies, optimizes the design of its college majors based on the job market's needs and offers high-quality job-hunting services to graduates.

The university has cooperated with over 100 companies, government bodies and research institutes in recent years, besides setting up several teaching practice bases for its students.

In August 2022, the university's Faculty of Applied Economics signed a cooperative agreement with CRCC Financial Leasing, a company under the Beijing-based China Railway Construction Corporation which focuses on financial lease services.

Under the agreement, the faculty has jointly established a teaching practice base with the company. Of the 30-odd students sent for internship interviews at the company, seven were successfully accepted as interns in the past two years.

Wang Zhiyi, an official responsible for admission and career services of the university, said that the institution has channeled plenty of resources and efforts to help open more job opportunities for its graduates. It also offers its students high-quality employment and career services, guidance and skills training courses based on their specific needs.

Wang said the university has organized lectures on job hunting and professional competence improvement for about 300 class hours with over 1,600 attendees so far. The university has also organized nine job fairs for fresh graduates so far, with 2,234 companies and employers joining in.

The university has also optimized its discipline designs in recent years with a dynamic adjustment mechanism, under which it will increase admission quotas for majors with stronger market demand while cutting some admission quotas of the majors that face poor career prospects.
