CCSZD eyes Middle East for growth

China Construction Shenzhen Decoration is strengthening its foothold in the Middle East as the firm sees business opportunities emerging from the region's economic diversification push.

The Shenzhen-based company recently signed a strategic partnership with JTA International Investment Holding, a Qatari investment company, in Doha.

The collaboration, which focuses on modular architecture, green technologies and co-investment opportunities in large-scale developments, aims to accelerate the development of sustainable infrastructure projects across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

According to a joint statement, the two firms will combine their strengths to drive innovation in smart city planning and sustainable urban development in Qatar. CCSZD's cutting-edge expertise in modular systems and eco-friendly building materials will complement JTA's global network and investment reach.

Liu Yang, chairman of CCSZD, said the partnership aligns with the company's global development goals. "Working with JTA allows us to contribute to Qatar's vision while expanding our international footprint. We are excited to bring innovative solutions to new markets," he said.

Amir Ali Salemi, CEO of JTA International Investment Holding, said the partnership is an example of combining technical excellence with investment strength. "Together, we aim to deliver visionary projects that support long-term sustainability and economic growth," he said.

Qatar's National Vision 2030 aims to transform the country into an advanced and sustainable economy by that year, and the construction sector is a vital part of its sustainability drive. According to media reports, the market size of Qatar's construction sector is expected to reach $123.1 billion by 2030, a 9.5 percent annual growth rate from 2023.

Besides Qatar, many other Middle Eastern countries are also stepping up economic diversification to reduce their reliance on oil. The building or improvement of major infrastructure projects will create enormous demand for construction-related services, bringing significant business opportunities for industry players.

For example, to fulfill its Vision 2030 blueprint, Saudi Arabia is seeking cutting-edge technologies in the construction sector for the development of its giga projects.

A subsidiary of China State Decoration Group, CCSZD has been expanding its international presence over the years, with business spreading across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. So far, the company has delivered more than 10,000 projects worldwide.

"China and Middle Eastern countries have large room for cooperation in the construction field," said Zhang Yi, CEO and chief analyst of market consultancy iiMedia Research.

"With decades of rapid development in the Chinese property sector, Chinese construction firms have accumulated sophisticated experience in the field. Moreover, China has made constant innovations in construction technologies. These strengths can satisfy Middle Eastern nations' demand for improving their construction quality and enhancing sustainability."
