London-based Chinese artist seeks economic, cultural values through art creations

“This not only recognized my artistic creation but also assigned a high-value label to my work in the international art market,” she said.

It has been learned that Kong’s works have also been published in the first edition of EST8 Magazine (Barcelona) and Holy Art Magazine Issue 07 (London), further expanding her artistic influence and market recognition.

“From an economic perspective, my works embody profound cultural asset value,” she elaborated, noting that her piece Calculate The Memory, created in 2021, uses hand-dyed silk, Shetland wool, and Dylon materials, inspired by a gray-brown cardigan passed down from her parents in Zhejiang province.

By replicating and deconstructing the cardigan, she not only reconstructs her family’s memories, but also prompts the audience to deeply reflect on time, memory, and the transmission of material cultural heritage.

“This exploration and re-presentation of my personal and familial memories is, in fact, a tangible transformation of intangible cultural assets, providing a new approach to the economic value development of cultural memory,” Kong explained.
