Orchestra gives ancient melodies new life

The China National Traditional Orchestra continues to explore Chinese folk music. In 2023, the orchestra launched the Chinese Folk Song Map choral series that deeply integrated folk song culture. By using melodies from different ethnic groups, regions and styles, the orchestra created new compositions and arrangements using modern compositional techniques. These pieces are connected through dramatic performances, offering audiences a fascinating musical journey.

Tang Feng, the deputy director of the China National Traditional Orchestra, said: "Our musical creations elevate the folk songs passed down in various regions through art and give them new vitality with contemporary aesthetics.
