Health awareness grows health management technology

Rising health awareness is fueling growth in the health management technology industry, in which experts predict an expanding role for big data and smart wearables for cardiovascular disease risk evaluation, prevention, and diagnosis.

Recent data from Zhiyanzhan Industry Research Institute reveals that the health management market, valued at 322.9 billion yuan ($45 billion) in 2023, is expected to surge to 673.3 billion yuan by 2029.

Capitalizing on this trend, Beijing Three Day Unlimited Technology Development Co Ltd revealed at a recent symposium the announcement of a digital system for cardiovascular disease alerts. This system, to be used in wearable devices, can analyze heart disease risks and notify the users and their families once users have a medical emergency, ensuring they get rapid assistance.

Du Fenghe, a doctor at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, highlighted at the symposium the increasing accuracy of data collected by smart wearable devices. Du emphasized the importance of the golden rescue time in unforeseen cardiovascular disease, saying that early intervention based on advanced knowledge can significantly reduce mortality rates.

Zhao Xingshan, a doctor at Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, called for collaborative efforts from hospitals and medical institutions to track, analyze, and respond to users' real-time electrocardiogram data. This approach aims to establish a system for early warning of diseases.

Experts at the symposium acknowledged the widespread application of wearable devices in clinical practice but also noted challenges, such as separating valuable data from background noise. Overcoming these challenges requires joint efforts to form a comprehensive evaluation framework, pragmatic regulatory policies, and reliable clinical trials, they said.
