Safe power usage is the backbone of the local seedling industry in Anyang

A state-owned power supplier is beefing up efforts to support the safe and efficient development of the local seedling industry in Anyang, Henan province, amid the winter season.

Covering an area of 106 mu (7 hectares) and with an annual seedling cultivation capacity of over 22 million plants, Chunfeng Miaomu Seedling Co is a major agricultural technology enterprise in Anyang. As winter is the peak season for seedling cultivation, the company has turned to advanced technologies such as automated watering, intelligent temperature control and smart wind control at its greenhouses to catch up with the high production demand of over 1.1 million seedlings per month during the season.

"The application of cutting-edge technologies can not only shorten the seedling cultivation time by 5 to 7 days but also save 30 percent of seed quantity and increase yield by more than 40 percent," said the company.

With the use of high-tech always comes higher requirements for power supply. In order to better serve the vigorous development needs of the local seedling cultivation industry and secure the growth of greenhouse fruits, State Grid Anyang Power Supply Co. has launched a slew of winter seedling protection campaigns, providing "zero distance" services to large-scale seedling enterprises in the city.

For example, in line with the specific power usage patterns during different seedling stages, the company arranges professional technicians for onsite inspections and to identify potential hazards. Comprehensive examinations are also conducted to ensure the safe functioning of temperature-controlled facilities and irrigation and drainage equipment in greenhouses, said State Grid Anyang Power Supply Co.

In addition, tailored assistance and guidance are also provided to staff members, enhancing the overall awareness of safe power usage among employees, said Chunfeng Miaomu Seedling Co.

To date, State Grid Anyang Power Supply Co. has completed more than 20 inspections of electricity use for seedling companies, helping solve 17 cases related to power usage.

There will be continuous safety checks for winter seedling cultivation, as well as personalized service files and targeted solutions for enterprise users to support the safe operations of the local economy, said the power supplier.
