Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies celebrates 10th anniversary
BEIJING -- The Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies celebrated its 10th anniversary with a conference held in Beijing on Friday.
In a speech at the conference, Xia Baolong, head of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, expressed full acknowledgement of the association's contribution to the successful implementation of the "one country, two systems" policy in Hong Kong and Macao.
Hong Kong people's love of the nation and their hometown is not only their glorious tradition but also serves as a fundamental basis for the steady and long-term implementation of "one country, two systems," Xia noted.
He called on Hong Kong people to channel their love into concrete actions, transform the strength of the "patriots administering Hong Kong" principle into good governance, and work together for a better Hong Kong.
More than 300 people, including senior officials from the central authorities and experts from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, attended the conference.
Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) John Lee and senior officials with the Central People's Government's liaison offices in HKSAR and the Macao Special Administrative Region attended the conference via video link.
