At a sub-forum on people-to-people connectivity at the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on Wednesday in Beijing, the Golden Bridge on the Silk Road showed up as a cultural icon.
It was the third consecutive time it made an appearance at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. This year is a key milestone as it marks the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the Belt and Road Initiative and it is also a decade since sculptor Shu Yong created the artwork The Golden Bridge on Silk Road.
Each brick of the bridge features handcrafted silk flowers representing the national or city flowers of numerous countries and nearly 100 cities along the Silk Road's overland and maritime routes.
This golden bridge landscape has not only been featured on the commemorative postage stamp for the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative but has also appeared in the promotional video showcasing the city of Beijing during the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
