Less than half of US workers eligible for retirement plans

Less than half of US workers are eligible for retirement plans through their jobs, which could lead to a surge in the number of elderly people living in poverty, according to a recent study by the Economic Innovation Group, a public policy research organization. Financial services firm Credit Karma recently found that nearly 30 percent of Americans approaching retirement have not saved a penny for their retirement years.
