Top 10 regions in China with most AI firms

Artificial intelligence firms are in almost every provincial-level region of China except Tibet, Gansu, Macao and Hainan, according to the think tank EqualOcean, as it released a research report on the 2021 Chinese AI business market on July 9.

The think tank found 85 percent of AI firms chose to headquarter in Beijing, South China's Guangdong and East China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. And east coastal regions saw a higher concentration of AI firms.

For the present, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions have become three major clusters for the AI industry. Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai boast 829 AI firms, accounting for at least 42 percent of the country's total.
