Peak period for Spring Festival flowers is underway

The Kunming Dounan Flower Market in Southwest China's Yunnan province is the largest fresh cut flower trading market in Asia, contributing 70 percent of the country's trading volume in fresh cut flowers.

The peak supply period for dried flowers, potted flowers and other flowers for Spring Festival began Jan 1.

Since Jan 28, prices for the best-selling fresh cut flowers, such as roses, carnations, lilies, gerberas and Platycodon grandiflorum, also known as the balloon flower, have increased a lot. For example, each lily branch has increased from 6 yuan ($0.93) to 10 yuan.
