China's growth surpassed expectations, says ADB country head

China's annual GDP in 2020 saw an increase of 2.3 percent over the same period last year. Yolanda Fernandez Lommen, Asian Development Bank country director for China, praised the strong resilience of the Chinese economy, saying that the positive growth of the Chinese economy in 2020 has exceeded expectations.

She also estimates that China's GDP will achieve much higher growth in 2021, reaching about 7.5-8 percent.
