Core technology fuels CNNC's high-quality growth

Under the Belt and Road Initiative, HPR 1000 also went global to Pakistan. In April, at the Karachi nuclear power plant, the outer containment dome was capped for the K2 unit's nuclear island. This reactor was the first overseas unit adopting the HPR 1000 nuclear reactor technology.

Linglong One (ACP 100), a small multipurpose modular reactor serving as a new type of nuclear reactor, operates with a high degree of safety and lower costs as well as flexibility in terms of power and scale, and it is adaptable for power plants in challenging locations. CNNC announced the start of the Linglong One demonstration project last year in South China's Hainan province, and the first concrete dump for the raft foundation of the reactor building is scheduled within this year, with a construction period of 58 months before its commercial operation.

The nuclear energy supplier aims to provide safer and economical energy and seek to widen the use of nuclear energy, according to the company. It has established operations in core industries such as advanced nuclear energy utilization, natural uranium, nuclear fuel, nuclear technology applications, engineering construction, nuclear environmental protection, equipment manufacturing and financial investment, as well as market-oriented emerging industries such as nuclear industry services, new energy, trade and healthcare.

CNNC also made its debut on this year's Fortune Global 500 companies list, and its three listed subsidiaries made it onto the 2020 Fortune China 500 list. At the end of 2019, CNNC had assets of 830 billion yuan ($119 billion) and more than 170,000 employees, according to the company.
