Training for express couriers aims for profits

Cainiao Guoguo, the largest online express delivery platform in China, recently set up the country's first business school for couriers.

Called the Cainiao Guoguo business school, the co-founders of which are major express delivery companies in China, including ZTO Express, Yunda Express, STO Express, YTO Express and Deppon Express.

It is a digital learning platform that provides free online education to help 500,000 Chinese delivery drivers improve their work skills and be better prepared for changes.

"The number of online users per day has reached the maximum of 10,000," a business school staff member said. They learn and then take examinations on the platform."
Around 50 free online courses are offered, and couriers can study during their free time.

The platform is friendly for new users. And records are kept of who has been trained in each course.

Certification systems will also be online, and couriers' individual qualifications will be recognized by the industry to facilitate employment.

Three workers from Jiangsu and Shandong provinces and Shanghai who are in charge of express stations are the first lecturers. One of them, Hou Kaili of Nanjing, Jiangsu province, has been in the express delivery business for years. At Cainiao Guoguo, he manages a team of 150 couriers, whose average monthly income is more than 10,000 yuan ($1,439). Their earnings double on June 18 and Nov 11, the biggest shopping discount days in the country.

"The platform will help couriers improve their service and management while avoiding detours in the business," Hou said.

Sharing his experience and methods, Hou hopes that his lectures will help his peers increase their earnings.
