Village in Yunnan rises to prosperity through rural tourism

Xianrendong village, home to 196 households that comprise the Sani people belonging to the Yi ethnic group, used to be a poverty-stricken place. But with a landscape well-endowed by nature, the village has risen to prosperity in recent years through making the best use of its tourism resources. Restaurants and private hotels with local folk flavor soon sprang up across the village, turning it into a well-known tourist attraction in the county. The increasing popularity of the area is now also drawing visitors from home and abroad, who come mostly to savor the natural beauty.[Photo/Xinhua]
