China, the fastest-growing film market in the world, is expected to exceed North America as the world's largest market in box office and audience numbers by 2020.
In 2009, there were 5,000 movie screens in China and today there are almost 70,000, while in the US the number is roughly 40,000, Fenton said.
Fenton is currently working on a project that is going to incorporate both the US and China in filmmaking with a goal to achieve "a big global success."
"If you can make a piece of content work in both the US and China, which are the two largest markets in the world, then it will work everywhere else. So now, that's what everyone is focused on," he said.
