Central Kowloon, HK core business area, paralyzed by protesters
Following the chaotic situation, protesters set a paper box on fire outside the police station at around 9 pm.
Shortly after the 2:30 pm planned public meeting and procession in Mong Kok, some protesters were seen wielding metal shields and passing additional gears – goggles and cling films – against tear gas, despite the absence of the police.
Due to protesters' obstruction to roads, bus and minibus services via central Kowloon were affected and needed to be suspended, truncated or diverted.
At around 5:30 pm, some radical protesters ripped the national flag and threw it into the sea at the Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui, while others were caught painting offensive graffiti on the building fa?ade of Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station.
Report Rooms of the police stations in Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom Station were shut down after 5:50 pm due to serious traffic congestion.
About 6:20 pm, in an unprecedented move, a group of protesters used different types of road barriers and roadblocks to stop traffic of both directions of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel in Hung Hom.
The tunnel, the cheapest among the three cross-harbor tunnels in Hong Kong, is the busiest road connection between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island across the sea.
