China willing to work with Azerbaijan to deepen ties

China stands ready to work with Azerbaijan to deepen political mutual trust and advance the mutually beneficial cooperation to benefit the two peoples, Vice-Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui said on Tuesday.

Zhang made the remarks at a ceremony held to lay the foundation for the new buildings of Azerbaijan Embassy in Beijing.

The relations between the two countries have developed healthily and stably over the past years with practical cooperation in various fields advancing steadily thanks to the personal efforts made by the two heads of state, Zhang said.

Speaking at the ceremony, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov said both nations have enjoyed long-standing friendship since 2,000 years ago, when the ancient Silk Road linked the two peoples.

Azerbaijan is willing to work along with China to strengthen high-level exchanges, advance the joint building of the Belt and Road, and make joint efforts to build a better future of friendly cooperation between the two nations, Hasanov said.
