The county sits just 60 kilometers away from Hangzhou and lies in the center of the popular national tourism route stretching from the West Lake to Qiandao Lake to Huangshan Mountain. After the opening of the Hangzhou-Huangshan High-speed Railway, visitors can reach Tonglu within 30 minutes from Hangzhou, one hour from major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, and six hours from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
