A beneficiary of the motivation system, 47-year-old Luo Zhaoqiang, a high-speed train testing expert, earned more than 500,000 yuan ($74,253) last year, a salary higher than what most white-collar employees get in big cities in China.
In February 2019, Luo was awarded second prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. It was the first time the award was given to a high-speed train worker.
But, Luo didn't work alone. His innovation studio provided a great platform for him and his colleagues to work together to tackle problems in testing process and make innovations.
