Yunnan cooperates with intl medical resources to fight cancer
KUNMING - An international forum on high-incidence tumor was held on Saturday in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
More than 100 experts and scholars from China, the United States, Canada, Italy, Spain, Australia, Singapore and Thailand gathered in the Yunnan Cancer Hospital to exchange views on the latest progress of cancer prevention research.
In recent years, Yunnan has established the Yunnan Cancer Center and the Yunnan provincial cancer treatment quality control center, carried out surgical treatment, chemotherapeutic treatment, and integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment for patients, said Yang Yang, head of provincial health department.
The province has played an important role in cancer prevention and treatment in Southwest China and southeast Asia, Yang said.
Yunnan Cancer Hospital has set up long-term cooperation with MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic, National Cancer Institute in the US, the University of Edinburgh in Britain, the University of Siena in Italy, and the University of Hong Kong.
