Communist Party of China steadfast in being of, with and for the people

SUNDAY MARKED the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and it must continue to show that it works together with the people, unites with the people, and strives to make the people live a happier and more dignified life. People's Daily comments:

It is the Party's loyalty and commitment to the people that has seen it overcome one difficulty after another over the years.

As Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, said at the Party's 19th National Congress in October, as long as the Party remains true to the people's aspirations and works in concert with the people, it will be able to lead the ship carrying the great dream of the Chinese people forward.

Under the Party's leadership, China has realized the great leap from national independence to national development. As Xi said in his report, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved. "What we now face is the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life."

The more than 89 million Party members face new challenges and opportunities in a new era. They must know that only when they remain true to the people's aspirations and work in concert with the people can they always stay on the right track and march forward in the right direction, however complicated and difficult the situation may seem.

Only by effectively satisfying people's desire for a better life through solving their practical problems can the Party win the people's trust and support.

The Party should have the courage to bring forth new ideas, and always be ready to charge forward by deepening China's reform and opening-up. The Party should continually demonstrate its commitment to the people and that it is always with the people.
