CPC reviews document on selection of young officials

BEIJING - The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee reviewed a document on identifying, training and selecting outstanding young officials to meet the requirements of the new era, at a meeting Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

It is important to frequently train and select young officials so that the Party will have a force of highly qualified and professional officials to lead the people in "carrying out the great struggle, building the great project, advancing the great cause, and realizing the great dream," according to a statement issued after the meeting.

The statement said that the goals in the new era require the Party to have a stronger sense of responsibility and urgency and "with vision and efficiency," identify promising young officials as early as possible, train them, and promote them, so as to inject vigour in the cause of the Party and state.

The Party will introduce institutional arrangements and standards and turn the selection of young officials into a regular practice, the statement said.

The Party aims to have a sufficient supply of young officials who loyally implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, serve the people with heart and soul, be prepared for new tasks and new requirements, stand up to the tests of difficult jobs, be energetic, well-qualified and professional, it said.

Efforts are needed to implement the criteria for evaluating good officials, and introduce new concepts, ideas and models in training and selecting young officials in accordance with the principles of expanding the pool of candidates, optimizing the composition, streamlining mechanisms and improving quality, said the statement.

Participants stressed that efforts are needed to improve the procedure for selecting, cultivating, managing and assigning young officials.

The Party strives to attract people with talent in every field to join its ranks of officials in their pursuit to secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, to strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, it said.

Party committees and leading Party members groups at all levels are asked to prioritize the work of young officials and make it an important part of criteria to assess the performance in Party building.
